Jenny Don’t And The Spurs 'Flyin’ High / War Cry!' 7"
Jenny Don't and the Spurs first ever UK single - former members of Pierced Arrows (aka Dead Moon). Jenny Don't and the Spurs have been pioneering their own path in the music world for over a dozen years. Known for their high-energy country/garage style and captivating stage presence, they've garnered a global following with their infectious enthusiasm and extensive discography, featuring three albums, an EP, and nine singles. Based out of Portland, Oregon their 2021 LP, Fire on the Ridge, expanded their horizons, hitting the top spot in the Alt Country charts and leading them on tours across the world where few other country bands have had the opportunity to perform - in the Far East, Mexico plus across the EU and down under - affirming their formidable presence in the country, punk, garage and rockabilly music scene. This single is the lead track from their forthcoming album Broken Hearted Blue, out this Summer "Flyin' High," akin to a wild horse spurred by a crack of lightning. The song skillfully merges the band's garage-rock origins with their distinct Honky tonk sound, characterized by a driving tempo and gritty fuzz psych tones. Kelly and Jenny wrote it as a candid exploration of the addictive nature of love and relationships. The song delves into the idea of chasing a feeling, even when it's not good for us, and the inevitable crash that follows. War Cry! The Spurs love surf music from all corners of the world. Most countries have had or have a great music scene and New Zealand is no exception. Tony and the Initials were a great band from the 1960's who released a lot of great instrumental tracks. This cover is Jenny's homage to all of the bands out there that remain more or less unknown outside of their native countries. Jenny Don't earned her moniker in her youth for her strong-willed and independent nature, often defying authority figures much to their consternation, leading the punk band Don't and numerous other acts. Add to this lead guitarist Christopher March, Kelly Halliburton on bass (Kelly was formerly the drummer for Pierced Arrows, aka Dead Moon) and new drummer Buddy Weeks who replaces former drummer Sam Henry (Wipers, Poison Idea) whom sadly passed away two years ago. Produced by Collin Hegna of Brian Jonestown Massacre.
