Siouxise & The Banshees 'Peepshow' LP

UMC are proud to announce the final batch of Siouxsie and the Banshees vinyl reissues for Decemeber 14th 2018. Remastered from the original ¼” tapes and cut at half speed at Abbey Road studios, London. Both artwork and audio have personally been overseen and orchestrated by Siouxsie Sioux and Steven Severin.
KALEIDOSCOPE: The Banshees’ third studio album landed in summer 1980 and introduced two new members ‘Budgie’ on drums and ‘McGeoch’ on guitar. Kaleidoscope would give the group their first hit album peaking at No’5 in the charts. Hits such as ‘Happy House’ and ‘Christine’ are atmospheric and dripping with sarcasm, the album swirls with synths and programmed drum loops for the first time.

HYAENA: Hyaena is a fabulously textured and psychedelic offering born out of experimentation – Sioux and Severin’s lyrics contrastingly bleak. The departure of McGeoch sees Robert Smith cement his roots in Banshees history with his only studio offering. Single releases ‘Swimming Horses’, ‘Dazzle’ and ‘Overground’ ably demonstrate the darker underbelly of pop at a time where the charts are brimming with sugar coated hits.

PEEPSHOW: Peepshow was seen as both a critical and commercial success, Siouxsie Sioux’s voice trickling with fresh nuances, orchestration and perfected unpredictability. The Banshees for the first time were now a quintet, Klein and McCarrick joining the ranks alongside Budgie and the ever present and impervious Severin. Peepshow proved their best album in years!  Singles ‘Peek-a-Boo’, ‘The Killing Jar’ and ‘The Last Beat of my Heart’ have often been cited as influencing factors in the modern pop era.

THE RAPTURE: The 11th and final studio album from Siouxsie and the Banshees – The Rapture was also as fresh and innovative as the first. How the Banshees are able to remain vital and celebrated after almost two decades is down to their ever evolving and metamorphic spirit. Only ever released on gatefold 2xLP vinyl outside of the UK, The Rapture’s artwork has been reimagined and designed to rightly reflect this final Banshees offering.
