The Winstons 'Amen Brother / Color Him Father' 7"

Pre-order. Due 13th November.

Here it is - The Winstons’ ‘Amen, Brother’ is the world’s greatest ever break! As featured on 1000s of hip-hop and jungle releases. whosampled.com currently lists 7839 tracks that sample the tune.

Drum and bass producers sped the break up, while hip-hop producers slowed it down.

Here are a few artists who have sampled ‘Amen Brother’ - NWA, Mantronix, Oasis, Slipknot, DJ Zinc, Stetsasonic, DJ Shadow, Linkin Park, PinkPantheress, Shy FX & Apache UK, Ultramagnetic MCs, The Prodigy, Tyler the Creator, Squarepusher, Eric B & Rakim, Lady Gaga, Aphex Twin and David Bowie.

Recorded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1969 by the racially mixed soul group The Winstons, the track was originally recorded as a B-Side and went almost unnoticed until its discovery by producers and DJs that began in the late 1980s and has continued ever since.

The flip-side features ‘Color Him Father’, a superb Curtis Mayfield-esque anthemic soul tune that’s as essential as the A-Side!
